A week ago, our project meeting started in Estonia, Põlva. We had a week filled with activities and fun.
April 6th,
Kadri, Helena and Kristo went to pick up our friends from the airport in Riga. It was really nice to see them and everyone was excited, because of meeting their hosts. Our Turkish guests spent their evening with their host families and they had a change to explore Põlva.
The Turks came to our school, where we had presentations about both schools, some games to get to know each other and after that we looked around in school. Also we had a project workshop, where we had to make a quiz about the countries who are involved in this project (Estonia, Turkey, Romania, The Netherlands, Poland, The Czech Republic). In the afternoon we had lunch and after that we walked in Põlva and they had a chance to see different places like Intsikurmu, our music school, the centre of culture and leisure, etc. After that we, Estonians, went with the Turkish students to Taevaskoja to walk and show them our nature. In the evening the students spent time with their host families and some of us were together and had a time to get to know each other better.
In the morning our guests had a chance to visit our lessons and see our school system. Then we continued our project workshop and after lunch we went to Tartu. In Tartu we visited Ahhaa centre, Megazone and showed them the old town. Overall, we had a great time together.
In the early morning we started our way to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Firs,t we visited the TV Tower, which they really liked. After that we looked around in the old town and visited Nevski Cathedral. Also they had a chance to buy some souvenirs and do a little shopping. We got back to Põlva in the evening.
In the morning all the students were in classes and then we had a project workshop where we tried out our quiz, that we had made 2 days ago. After that they had to make an Estonian cake for the evening, so everyone was involved in cooking. After lunch they wanted to do their final shopping in Põlva and then everyone had a bit of free time and preparation time for the evening. At 6 pm we started our friendship evening. The Turks had prepared some Turkish songs and dances, which were really interesting and a really big surprise was that, one girl sang in Estonian! That was just amazing! We, Estonians, taught them Estonian dances like "Kaerajaan" and " Kaks sammu sissepoole". We had a lot of Estonian and Turkish food, which was just delicious. We ended our evening with feedback, where everyone had to write good things about each other and also a group picture.
April 11th,
The project meeting was over. We sent our guest to the bus and said good bye to everyone. It was so nice to meet everyone. We had a really great time with all of you, we made a lot of new friends and we are looking forward to seeing you all again!
